Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry faculty and alumni are raising the bar for excellence in dentistry in the Richmond region, according to the latest edition of Richmond magazine’s Top Dentists list.

This annual Top Dentists issue celebrates the region’s most outstanding dental professionals throughout the area. The categories include endodontics, general dentistry, orthodontics and more. The winning dentists are selected by their peers in a survey. 

Congratulations to Sarah Glass, D.D.S., assistant professor in the Department of Oral Diagnostic Sciences. She was featured on the list for her outstanding contributions to oral cancer treatment and research. This is a repeat accomplishment for Glass, who has been named on the list for several years.

Glass, who is also a VCU School of Dentistry alumna, practices within the Oral Diagnostic Services Laboratory at the dental school.

“Dr. Glass’s inclusion on the list is very well deserved,” said Lyndon Cooper, D.D.S., Ph.D., dean of VCU School of Dentistry. “She represents the unique skill, care and excellence our faculty bring to patient care through the advanced training many of our faculty possess.”

“I would like to thank my peers who nominated me for this recognition. It’s an honor to be able to serve the Richmond community,” said Glass. 

VCU School of Dentistry alumni held an overwhelming presence in the list. Their excellence in their respective fields conveys the high standard of education and clinical training VCU School of Dentistry has to offer. Post-graduation, our alumni are impacting the Richmond community in great ways.

Of the 62 dental professionals on the list, 45 of them are current faculty or alumni of VCU School of Dentistry. Therefore, roughly 73% of the list is connected to VCU School of Dentistry. 

"I am proud of all of our alumni who were featured on this list. It signifies the impact our school has on this field,” said Cooper. “Congratulations to everyone who is being recognized for the professional excellence they extend to their profession every day."
